Welcome!
Dear NFRBMEA Members & Friends:
It is again the time of the year for you to begin to make plans to attend the 32nd Annual NFRBMEA Conference. This year's conference will be held in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin on June 6-10, 2004 at the Howard Johnson Hotel and Conference Center. The Wisconsin FBPM teachers look forward to hosting this year's conference and invite you to join us in the Dairy State for some fun and comfort.
The “Dells” is a popular recreation destination noted for its water parks, mini golf, and yes the “Ducks”. This part of Wisconsin is the boundary of the northern hardwood forest and the northern pine forest providing a wide diversity of plant and animal life. The Wisconsin River cuts through the area and drained a great glacial lake forming the unique sandstone cliffs that line the river banks at the 'dells'. If you are looking for a blend of agriculture, natural resources, and recreation you will find it here.
The theme of this year's conference is The Green and Gold of Wisconsin-Environmental Responsibility and Financial Rewards. Our planning committee has put together a conference to expand your knowledge on our agricultural industry and learn how our producers can compete financially and with respect for the natural environment. Wisconsin has adopted some environmental regulations designed to keep soil applied nutrients in place, and at the same time is encouraging the dairy industry to remain competitive in this landscape. Review the conference agenda and you will be surprised to find that we have a great diversity of speakers and tours scheduled. Have you ever been to a cranberry bog? You will get to one if you come to the conference. How about your business analysis skills? Could they be sharpened up? We have brought together some leading minds in the business side of farming and dairying to move the analytical side of your mind.
Spouses and family will have plenty to do. This community was built on the concept of making life fun for young and old. The area has many activities to offer. The spouses and children tour includes the National Crane Foundation and the Circus World Museum. The world famous House on the Rock is located nearby. Your children or grandchildren will really love it if you take them along to this conference.
We have included information on conference registration, a registration information form for making your hotel registration, agendas, information about the “Exchange of Ideas”, and a First Timers' Scholarship application. We encourage all of you to review the information and return your registrations early. Once again, we are offering an Early Bird Registration and an opportunity to be included for our drawing.
Sincerely,
Your 2004 Conference Hosts
